Class 8 Corrosives

Corrosives are typically classified as acids or bases, depending on their pH. Acids have a pH of less than 7, while bases have a pH greater than 7. However, not all bases and acids are corrosive.

Reason for Regulation

Corrosives can cause serious harm if they come into contact with skin, eyes or if inhaled. It can cause chemical burns, blindness, respiratory problems, and in extreme cases, death.
