Free In

Free In (FI) is a term that is used in international ocean freight shipping. It refers to the responsibility for the cost of loading goods onto a vessel for international shipping.

If a shipment is marked as FI, it means that the shipper is responsible for the cost of loading the goods onto the vessel. This is in contrast to Free Out (FO), where the cost of loading the goods onto the vessel is the responsibility of the receiver.

In international shipping, the term “free” is used to mean "not included." Therefore, when a shipment is marked as FI, it indicates that the cost of loading the goods onto the vessel is not included in the overall shipping costs. The shipper will be responsible for paying this cost separately.
