Port of Discharge

The Port of Discharge is the final port where a ship unloads its cargo before completing its voyage. The cargo is then cleared by customs and various other authorities and is ready for on-carriage shipping (transportation from the port to the final destination). The Port of Discharge is an important part of the international shipping process, as it marks the point at which the cargo is legally transferred from the carrier to the consignee (the person or company that the cargo is being shipped to). The Port of Discharge may also be referred to as the final destination port, port of unload or the port of destination.
