Cargo Transfer Manifest (CTM)

The Cargo Transfer Manifest (CTM) is an important document in the process of exporting goods by air. It is a pouch that contains all the necessary documents related to the shipment, including the Air Waybill, House Air Waybill (if applicable), Invoice, and Packing List. These documents are used by the carrier (usually an airline) to move the cargo to its final destination.

The CTM documents are usually handed over to the carrier by the exporter or their authorized customs house agent, along with the shipping bills, which serve as proof that the export customs clearance procedures have been completed. Once the CTM documents are received, the carrier arranges for the movement of the goods for export.

In addition to the standard documents included in the CTM, a separate pouch containing documents from the shipper to the consignee may also be enclosed with the cargo, if applicable. This pouch will contain the CTM documents, which include the airway bill issued by the IATA agent and instructions for the carrier, along with any necessary declarations and instructions. These declarations, along with the airway bill and other required documents, must be signed and rubber-stamped by the IATA.

It is important to ensure that all necessary documents are included in the CTM and that they are accurately completed and signed, as they are essential for the successful transportation of the goods.
