Container Yard to Container Yard

In general, the term CY/CY on a bill of lading indicates that the responsibility of the carrier begins and ends at the Container Yard (CY). This means that the carrier is responsible for transporting the cargo from the Container Yard at the port of loading to the Container Yard at the port of discharge. However, in some cases, the container may need to be moved from or to a different location before it is delivered to or picked up from the Container Yard. In these cases, if the CY/CY notation is present on the bill of lading, the shipper or consignee will be responsible for any additional movement, costs, or risks involved in getting the container to or from the Container Yard. This is important to be aware of, as it can affect the shipper or consignee's liability and responsibility for the cargo.
