ULD Pallet Wings

Pallet wings are devices used to increase the usable volume of pallets in the lower deck of an aircraft. They are most commonly used on PMC and PKC pallets and can provide an additional 30% more volume compared to vertical-sided loads. However, improper use of pallet wings can lead to damage to the aircraft, pallet collapse, and other problems. To avoid these issues, pallet wings must be completely enclosed by a certified air cargo pallet net, not lifted by a forklift, and inspected for any damage before use. The design of pallet wings involves an aluminum frame hinged along its lower side and controlled by cables. The proper use of pallet wings requires compliance with IATA ULD Regulations and attention to the details of their design and usage.
